Mrs. Betty Tipton Amberg , 86, of Hickman died on January 4, 2017 at the Baptist Hospital in Union City, Tn. She was born on July 17, 1930 in Tiptonville, TN to the late Fred and late Willa Maude (Hunt) Tipton. After high school, Betty attended the Southwestern, Ole Miss, and the University of Kentucky, where she graduated with a BS in education. She pledged Tri Delta at Southwestern and continued to be active in the sorority at Ole Miss and UK. Mrs. Amberg was a member of the First United Methodist church in Tiptonville, TN. She will be remembered for her love of the game of Bridge. She was an avid bridge player and was a Gold Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. Betty started the Hickman Recreation Duplicate Bridge Club in 1977 and was beginning her 50th year as director. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brantly D. Amberg and great grandson, Dylan Hayes Goodman. Mrs. Amberg is survived by her son, John (Robin) Amberg of Hickman , daughter, Amelia (Matt) Mikel of Paducah, grandchildren, John (Amy) Amberg, Jessica (Austin) Goodman, Jennifer Jackson, Ryan (Kristin) Amberg, Suanna Johnson and Owen Mikel and great grandchildren, Ian Goodman, Wesley Goodman, Riley Mae Goodman, Brently Amberg, Easton Amberg and Parker Amberg. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 7th at the First United Methodist Church in Hickman with Rev. Henry Callison officiating. Burial will follow in the Amberg Family Cemetery near Hickman. Pallbearers will be: Jack Amberg, Jack Haynes, Austin Goodman, Buddy Amberg, Don Lattus and Beau Simmons. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 7th at the First United Methodist Church.
