Mary Ruth Poynor

Mrs. Mary Ruth Poynor, 88, of Hickman, KY died at Baptist Hospital in Union City, TN on April 2, 2017. She was born in Fulton County, KY on August 5, 1928 to the late Wilbert A. White and late Jean (Gallimore) White. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. “Catfish” Poynor, Jr., brothers, Buck White, James E. “Doc” White and Richard White, sister, Sarah Poynor McCollum. Mrs. Poynor had worked in her brother, Dr. Richard White’s medical clinic as a receptionist. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Hickman. She is survived by her son, Charles Harry Poynor, III of Hickman; grandchildren, Paige (Jeremy) Grimmitt of Clinton, KY and C. H. (Courtney) Poynor of Mayfield, KY; great grandchildren, Logan, Lucas and Olivia Grimmitt of Clinton, KY and Harrison, Luke and Charles Ryan Poynor of Mayfield, KY. Funeral services are scheduled for at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the First Christian Church with Steve Coulson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickman City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be: Barry Cardwell, Glen Jones, Johnson Linder, Wiley Gannon, C. H. Poynor and Bob Murray. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the First Christian Church on Tuesday, April 4th, and again on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 AM until service time.
