Catherine "Kate" Culton Thompson

January 21, 1913 — April 1, 2011

Mrs. Catherine "Kate" Thompson, formerly of Fulton, died Friday morning at the Tanbark Healthcare Center in Lexington KY. Catherine "Kate", as she was fondly called, came to Fulton Co. as a UK Extension Home Demonstration Agent in 1935. She taught vocational Home Ec at Cayce High School and South Fulton High School. In 1967 she returned to the Extension Service as Fulton Co. agent and specialized in Clothing for the Purchase Area until her retirement in 1975. She stayed active in Palestine Homemakers Club, taught the Ladies Sunday School class and opened her home to gracious hospitality.

She is survived by a daughter Rita Thompson Hardman and husband, Louis Hardman of Lexington, KY, three grandchildren Brian
Hardman, Sari Hardman Cason and Robert Edward Hardman, all of Lexington, KY and 5 great grandchildren: Cody, Hailey, Jade and Jordan and Isaiah, two sisters Helen C. Price of Maitland, FL and Madison WI and Geneva C. Glasscock of Boyle Co., KY and two brothers Dan Culton of Danville, KY and Robert Culton of Maitland, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert N. Thompson, whom
she married April 11, 1936, her parents Eugene and Margaret (Johnson) Culton, three sisters, Crystal Gregory, Thelma May, and Anna Culton Thompson and two brothers, Eugene Culton II and Tom Culton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine "Kate" Thompson will be held at 1 PM Monday in our funeral chapel. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 noon Monday until the funeral hour.
