Clara Charlene Richmond Wooten died on December 12, 2015 at the
wonderful age of 98. Clara was born in West Kentucky, but lived her life in many cities and states. As the wife of a minister, she gave of herself untiringly to the work of her husband, the churches he pastored, and most especially to the work of her Lord. She actively participated in the work of all churches including CPW, vacation bible schools, teaching Sunday school, signing in the choir, and all the other responsibilities that
go along with being a pastor's wife. She did all this while she worked outside the home and raised a family of three children, always providing a loving, warm, and safe home.
Through the years, her children and grandchildren have marveled at her tenacity to withstand and cope with many changes in her life, and her ability to move forward no matter what. She saw the Depression, war, the loss of a child, her parents, siblings and her beloved husband. She saw changes in the world, from horse
and buggies to automobiles, from no mass communication to radio then television, then computers. and recently became a part of the "selfie nation" much to the delight of her family.
Clara was a joy to all who met her. She had a beautiful smile and blossomed from a very shy, young bride of eighteen to a warm and outgoing woman who enriched the lives of many.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Clarence and Dona Pearl Richmond, her baby daughter, Janet Ruth, her husband, J. R. Wooten, and her three sisters. She is survived by her children, Jim Wooten (Patience O'Connor) of Washington, DC, Judy Parker (Dr. Don Parker) of Marietta, GA, and Sandi Goad of Nashville, TN. Her love and family loyalty will continue through the lives of her nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Memorial services will be held in our funeral chapel at 3PM on Saturday, April 30th with Dr. Don Parker officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 30th from 2PM until the hour of service.
