Doris Jean MCCollum

Mrs. Doris Jean McCollum, age 79, of Hickman, KY passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019 at her residence.

She was born on November 22, 1939 to the late Prather Poynor & Sarah (White) Poynor McCollum.  Mrs. McCollum worked as a secretary from 1966 until her retirement with the U.K. Extension Office. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Hickman, KY.

Mrs. McCollum is survived  by her husband of 42 years, Gene Ross McCollum of Hickman, KY; daughter, Jean Carolyn (Michael) Thompson of Dresden, TN; brother, David (Anita) Poynor of Murray, KY; grandchildren Meg Thomson of Charleston, SC and Ross Thompson of Dresden, TN.

Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Jean McCollum are scheduled for Friday, September 13, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Strong Funeral Home with Steve Coulson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickman City Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 5:30 P.M. – 7:30 P.M. at Strong Funeral Home and again on Friday, September 13, 2019 from 12:00 P.M. until service time.

John David Poynor, Rick White, Bob Murray, David Williamson, Wendell Poynor, Gary White, and Bart White will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer: Harry Poynor.
