Eunice Mitchell Clark

Eunice Mitchell Clark, of Fulton, retired president of Fulton
Publishing Co., Inc., and retired publisher and editor of the Fulton
Daily Leader, died Sunday at her home. She was 87.

Private burial will be Tuesday morning at Pleasant View Memorial
Gardens in Fulton, with Rev. Bill Tate officiating. Pallbearers will
be Mark Tomlin, Joey Brush, Dean Brush, Trey Mitchell, Ben Mitchell,Garrett Boyd, Josh Mitchell and Scott Wheeler, grandsons.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, at First United

Survivors include three sons, Vyron Mitchell Jr. (Cynthia), Newbern, Tenn.; William Mitchell (Rita), Shelbyville, Tenn.; and John Mitchell, (Kathy) St. Marys,
Ga.; three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Prehm (Eddie) and Rebecca Allen, all of
Paris, Tenn.; and Cindy Rodenberger (Kurt), Ringgold, Ga.; one stepdaughter,
Amy Grassham, Pleasant View, Tenn.; 22 grandchildren, one step-
granddaughter, 44 great-grandchildren, three great-great-
grandchildren; a brother, the Rev. C. Ernest Williams, Kennewick,Wash.; and one sister, Jeane Herrmann, Lisle, Ill.; and friend of the family, Eula Rose, Fulton. She was preceded in death on Sept. 26,1977 by her first husband, Vyron Mitchell Sr., whom she married March 18, 1943; and her second husband on July 11, 2001, Virgil B. Clark,
whom she married Dec. 30, 1984; one stepson, Ben Clark; four
brothers, Percy Williams, Paris, Tenn.; James C. Williams, Murray,
Ky.; Bryant Williams, Paris; and Dr. H. Lee Williams, Ft. Lauderdale,Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, John Scott Wheeler and Molly Irene Mitchell.

A native of Florence, Ala., she was born Aug. 25, 1922, daughter of the late William Percy and Lucy Cowan Williams. She graduated from Grove High School, Paris, class of l940, and Whitworth College,Brookhaven, Miss. She was the author of “Small Talk,” a human-
interest column, and for several years was author of “Kentucky Kin,” a genealogical column. She became editor of the Fulton Daily Leader in 1955, publisher in 1977 and retired in 1985.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Cokesbury
Sunday School class; teacher of several adult Sunday School classes for more than 40 years,
member of several boards and committees, and member and past
president of United Methodist Women. She also was a member of
Daughters of the American Revolution and charter member and regent of Jacob Flournoy chapter, and member and past president of Fulton Woman’s Club.
