Mrs. Evelyn S. Pounds, age 83, a resident of Martin Healthcare and formerly from Water Valley, KY died Monday, August 30, 2010 at 6:50 a.m. at the Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin,TN.
She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Wingo, KY and had been a employee of the Volunteer Community Hospital for 18 years
working in the Cafeteria department. She had lived in this area most of her life.
She is survived by two sons and daughters in law: Jerry Pounds (Donna)of Houston, Texas and Dean Pounds (Carol) of South Fulton, TN; 4 grandchildren Kenneth W. Pounds, Tracy Pounds and Shelly Pounds, all of Houston, TX, and Brandi Shempert of South Fulton, TN; 4 great grandchildren: Daniel J. Pounds, Gavin Pounds, Kailey Shempert and Miranda Pounds;
a brother Ray Sheffield of Ashland, KY, a sister in law Wyonna Pruitt Brown of South Fulton, TN, several nieces and nephews including Betty Mikel of South Fulton, TN and Linda Bushart Hall of Louisville, KY.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Charles
William "Billy" Pounds, her parents Clay and Daisy Mary (Davidson) Sheffield, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday, Sept. 2,2010 at the Jackson Funeral Home and burial will follow in the Good Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the Jackson Funeral Home from 5-8 pm Wednesday and anytime Thursday until the funeral hour.
