He was a man of great faith who loved God and his church family; he served the church as a deacon and Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years. He also served in many positions and on many committees during his 60 years as a member of the First Baptist Church in Fulton.

The community of Fulton/South Fulton was dear to him, and his desire to contribute to its well-being was seen in the active roles he played in the Lions Club, the American Legion, and on the Fulton Electric Board.

He considered time with his family as one of his greatest blessings.

Not only was he cherished by his family, he was loved and respected by others as well. His integrity, kindness, and selflessness were an inspiration to many. A lover of people, his welcoming personality was encouraging and impactful.

Gardening was one of his greatest pleasures, and even in his 97th year he could be found leaving vegetables on the doorsteps of friends and neighbors. Golf, baking, the study of World War II, and following the Kentucky Wildcats were other joys in his life.
