George Ely Burnette,age 70, of Mayfield died Sunday at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield.
He was a Chartered Financial Consultant and President of Estate and Pension Services in Mayfield; Valedictorian Graduate of University of Louisville; Magna Cum Laude graduate 1961; Member of the 1959 U of L Final Four Basketball Team; U.S. Air Force Veran; Member of First Christian Church in Mayfield.
Mr. Burnette is survived by; wife of 50 years, Jane Wheeler Burnette; 3 daughters, Beth Walker of Mayfield, Teresa Bohannon of Benton, Gail Newman of Chattanooga TN; brother, William E. Burnette of Versailles Ky; sister, Ruth Ann Fahl of Fulton; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.P. "Dub" and Corinne (Hicks) Burnette and 1 sister,
Jean Carol Burnette.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel and burial will follow in the Union Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or a Charity of your choice.
