Gertrude "Gertie" Bennett, age 94, of South Fulton, TN died October
24, 2017 at her home in the Pierce Station community.
She was a member of the Johnson Grove Baptist Church and was
employed by Henry I. Siegel Company for 42 years as a seamstress and
then as a "floor lady". Although being blind for 30 years, she remained independent and enjoyed life.
She is survived by two daughters Marietta Hardy (Ralph) of Fulton, KY and Lutrecia Stephens (Wallace) of High Ridge, MO, 4 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years G.L. "Doc" Bennett, her parents Leslie E. Cape and Margaret Craddock Cape, and a sister Beatrice Bennett.
Graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 28 at the
Obion Co. Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel from 12 noon Saturday until time to leave for the cemetery for graveside service.
Mrs. Bennett requested no flowers and expressions of sympathy may be
made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Childrens Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
