Jesse M. McClerkin

Jesse M. McClerkin, 67, of Hickman died on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at the Obion County Nursing Home in Union City, TN.

He was born in Hickman on August 21, 1950 to the late Cortez McClerkin and Mattie (Brown) McClerkin. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Sam, Bobby and Harry McClerkin.

Jesse had farmed with various landowners in the Fulton County area and was of non-denominational faith.

Survivors in addition to his mother, Mattie McClerkin of Union City, include his daughter, Bertha Cheirs of Hickman, brother, Walter Avery of Union City, sisters, Solo Mae of Toledo, OH, Mary Ann Buntyn of Xenia, OH, Mary Wilson of Mayfield, KY and Marilyn McClerkin of Hickman, and a grandson, R.J.

Funeral services will be held at Strong Funeral Home on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. with Elder Richard Holloway officiating.  Burial will be in the Hickman City Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at Strong Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until service time at 1:00 P.M.

Walter Avery Jr., Terry Avery, Preston Pearson, Willie Warren, and Ralph Warren will serve as pallbearers.
