Mr. Jimmie Gilbert, age 82, of Fulton, KY, died Friday July 3, 2015 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City, TN.
He attended the Walnut Grove Church in South Fulton, TN.
and was the owner of the former Gilbert's Supermarket for 37 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a longtime manager and creator of the Fulton Fillies. He lived most of his life in Fulton KY and South Fulton, TN.
He is survived by two daughters, Jimette Davis of South Fulton, TN., Julie (Jimmy) Wiggins of Fulton, KY., a son Jeffrey (Geri) Gilbert of Fulton, KY., six grandchildren, Kristi Hendrix and Eric Hendrix both of Union City, TN., Justin Wiggins of Clarksville, TN., Jade Wiggins of Fulton, KY, Jentri Nelson of Jackson, TN, Torri Gilbert of Fulton, KY., six great grandchildren, Kade Hagan and Levi Hendrix both of Union City, TN., Jayla Wiggins, Sheldon Wiggins, Jaycee Wiggins all of Clarksville, TN., Hollis Nelson of Jackson, TN., two sisters, Lela Henderson of Fulton, KY., and Loretta Sams of Fulton, KY.
He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Ann (Phipps) Gilbert on
August 8, 2014, his parents Frank and Bessie (Perry) Gilbert, a sister and a brother.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the
Pleasant View Memorial Gardens in Fulton, KY. There will be no
visitation or services held at the funeral home and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for graveside services.
