Kenneth E.”Captain” Love, 88, of Hickman died June 4, 2019 at Baptist Health in Paducah.
Kenneth retired after 54 years as a riverboat captain. In addition to working for several river transportation companies, he owned and operated Hickman Harbor Marine Service. He was fondly known as Captain Love. The River and Work were his life as he quoted many times.
Captain Love was born in Hickman on June 9, 1930 to the late Sam Love and Tommie (McClendon) Love. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his son, Jimmy (Linda) Love of Paducah, KY, daughter, Regena (Ronnie) Cruse of Clinton, KY, brother, Sam Love, Jr of Murray, KY, sisters, Frankie Jones of Fulgham, KY and Ruby Wills of Ruskin, FL, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and his caregiver, Janice Turner.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sons, Randy Love and Steve Love, brothers, Charlie, Clyde and Pete Love and sisters, Mildred Harris and Edna Williams.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7th at Strong Funeral Home with Rev. Henry Callison conducting the service. Burial will follow in the Hickman City Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, June 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Strong Funeral Home and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Terry Love, Doug Love, Allen Love, Kenny Love, Tyler Love and David Williams will serve as pallbearers and Katie Masters and Danielle Cruse will be honorary pallbearers.
