Marion Eugene Butler

October 20, 1931 — June 27, 2009

Mr. Marion Eugene Butler of South Fulton, Tn., died Friday at Western Baptist Hospital, Paducah, Kentucky.

A native of Medina, Tennessee, he retired as engineer after 36 years service with Illinois Central Railroad. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War and was a 52 year member of the Masonic Lodge #45 in Jackson, TN He was a member of South Fulton Baptist Church.


He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn (Dooley) Butler of South Fulton, Tn., two daughters, two sons in law, Lisa J. (David) Thompson of Dresden, Tn., and Laura K. (Tucker) Curtis, of Nashville, Tn., a sister, Patsy McGill of Medina, Tn., and a brother, Dr. Billy Butler of Brownsville, Tn., four grandchildren, Christy (Michael) Norton of Elizabethtown, Ky., Hailey Laine Brown of Miami Beach, Fl., Edward Maxwell Curtis and Mary Caroline Curtis of Nashville, Tn., two great granddaughters, Marion Layne and Macy Jaine Norton of Elizabethtown, Ky.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Eugene and Vernon Inez(Rhodes) Butler and a sister, Irene Piercey of Medina, Tn.


Active pallbearers will be Terry Beadles, Tony Slayden, Harlan Craven, James"Rabbit" Cruce, Kenneth Mulcahy, Eric Newton and Barry Rozzell.


Funeral services for Marion E. Butler will be held at 11 AM Tuesday in our funeral chapel.
Burial will follow in the Obion County Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday and anytime Tuesday until the funeral hour.
