Mary Alice Owens

Mrs. Mary Alice Owens, age 97, of the Rush Creek community
  died Monday, June 18, 2018 at The Waters in Union City, TN.  


   Mary Alice was a lifetime member of the Rush Creek Church where serving in various
positions. She was instrumental in establishing perpetual care for Rush
Creek Cemetery and served as cemetery secretary for many years. She
also taught Sunday School for many years and was a homemaker. Retiring from the former
Salant & Salant as a floor manager, she also attended the Long Beach Community College
in Long Beach, CA. Mary Alice lived in the Rush Creek community all of her life where she
was very active.

She is survived by a daughter Pat Owens Major (Lynn) of Hickman, KY and a son Danny
Howard Owens (Lori) of Benton, KY; four grandchildren Rick Major of
Hickman, KY, Amy Major Fulford of Seattle, WA, Josh Owens of Benton,
KY and Clay Owens of Nashville, TN, ten great grandchildren and two
brothers Lewis Atwill of Fulton, KY and John R Atwill of Gilbertsville, KY.


She was preceded in death by her husband James Howard Owens and
her parents Joseph Lewis Atwill and Edna May Davis Atwill.



Pallbearers will be Tom Freeman, Mike Phipps, Barry Cardwell, Ralph Wayne Adams,
and Todd Phipps. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Harris, Phil Mayfield, J.L. Atwill,
Greg Bransford, Robert Simpson and Mike Sheehan.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday in our funeral chapel with
burial to follow in the Rush Creek Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the funeral
home from 5-8 pm on Thursday.
