Maxine Wade Jeffress (Max, Mama Jeff) died of natural causes on
June 22, 2011 at 98 years of age at ElmCroft Assisted Living Facility where she has resided for 5 and a half years. She was born on October 25, 1912 in Fulton KY where she lived until she attended Murray State
Teachers College for one year. In 1934. she married Morye Roper Jeffress who died in 1997. They were married for 63 years.

She leaves three children: Nancy Barber, husband John of Muncie, IN, Philip Jeffress, wife Susanne of Cumming GA, Stan Jeffress, wife Sheri of Franklin NC.

Mama Jeff liked to share her varied talents with friends and family. Besides being the consummate homemaker who could manage a home, tend garden, can and freeze vegetables and fruit and do amazing needlework, she could tell a good story. Her Crescendo books chronicle family events-both comical and serious and provide a written legacy for our family. This family includes grandchildren: Christie Barber Williams, Muncie IN, John Jeffrey Barber, Indianapolis IN, Brian Barber (Michele) , Muncie IN,
Alison Barber Bell (Ty) Indianapolis IN, Julie Jeffress Jenkins (Jason), Franklin NC, Jennifer Jeffress Aaron (John), Atlanta GA, Mark Jeffress,
Atlanta GA, Jonathan Jeffress (Melinda) Atlanta GA. She was blessed with 17 great grandchildren.

Maxine was also active in her communities and churches. During her married life, she lived in Johnson City, TN, Fulton KY, and Franklin NC. Her Christian
faith was demonstrated not only in her active participation as a teacher in the Baptist Churches of which she was a member, but also in her every-day interaction with family, friends and acquaintances. She made dear and
enduring friendships in each place where she lived and will be fondly remembered by young and old alike.

Each significant change in her life was considered an adventure to her. Her positive attitude was contagious. Max's last "home" was in Elmcroft Assisted Living in Muncie, IN where the staff was both professional and loving.
This staff, along with the State of the Heart Hospice, maintained her peace and dignity as she moved to her Heavenly Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM Saturday in our funeral chapel. Burial will follow in the Greenlea Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10AM Saturday until the funeral hour.

Memorials may be made to Lourdes Hospice, 2855 Jackson Street, Paducah KY 42001, or the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 115 2nd Street, Fulton KY 42041.
