Mrs. Mercedes Engel, age 94, of Fulton, KY died Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Parkway Regional Hospital.
She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Fulton and was
active in church affairs, serving as senior warden and on Bishop committee;
served on PTA, the Boy Scouts of America, Cub Scouts and Weblow's.
She was a graduate of Fulton High School and the University of Tennessee
at Martin. She had worked for the Illinois Central Railroad from 1943-1980
as a clerk for the trainmaster and general foreman. She was an avid
bridge player and had lived in this area all of her life.
She is survived by a son and daughter in law Dr. Lee Engel (Jan) of
Greenville, MS and two granddaughters Savannah Engel of New York, NY
and Alexa Engel of Clinton, MS and a sister Virginia Khourie of Cario, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Lee Engel,
her parents Alexander and Lillian Khourie, a son Dr. Robert Engel, two
brothers Edmond Khourie and Ernest Khourie and a sister Mozelle
Khourie.
Funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, April 6 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Fulton with interment in the Obion Co. Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the church from 1 pm Sunday until the funeral hour.
