Mrs. Oleen Pollard, age 74, of Water Valley, KY died October 18, 2009 at 8:55 p.m. at her home.
She was of the Cumberland Presbyterian faith and had been a lab technician for Swift & Co., had been a teacher in Pilot Oak (KY),and had retired from Turner Dairies where she was in charge of
Records and Reports. She played piano for the Unionaires,
Cumberlandaires and Clark Jubilee. She was a member and past president of the Fulton County Genealogical Society and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (Water Valley chapter). She was the author of Water Valley Good Old Days and co author of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Book. Proceeds from this book helped to keep the cemetery open.
She is survived by her husband C. L. "Chuck" Pollard of Water Valley,KY, a daughter and son in law Lurinda "Rin" and Wayne Tate of Kevil, KY, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lula (Hawkins) and Claybourn H. Johnson and a sister Eva Lynn McKenzie.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 21 at 11 am at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel and interment will be in the Camp Beauregard Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8 pm and on Wednesday, after 8 am until the funeral hour.
