Paul Wendal Butts, 81, passed at 9:29 p.m. on Friday, February 11 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN.
A resident of this area all of his life, he was born on June 1, 1929 in Fulton County. He graduated from Fulton High School and attended Purdue University.
He joined his father, the late Paul Butts at A.C. Butts and Sons, the family business that was founded by his late grandfather, Mr. A. C.
Butts in the 1920's.
He and his wife also owned and operated the W. & L. Dollar stores
in Fulton and Hickman, Ky. and Greenfield, TN. during the late 60's.
He has been an active member of this community. He has served as
past president of the Lions Club and the Fulton Country Club. He
was also an active member of the Jaycees. He is a member of the
Fulton First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise Reese Butts, one
daughter, Debbie (Cubb) Stokes, five grandchildren, Michael
Todd (Kelly) Butts of Paducah, Robert Wendal (Emily) Butts of
Nashville, Arthur Paul (Sabrina) Butts of Nashville, Fredric Nicholas (Rae Jean) Stokes of Yerevan, Armenia and Natalie Reese Stokes of Nashville, 6 great grandchildren, Margaret and Jack Butts of Paducah, Ky., Paul, Bo, Sammy and Bryant Butts all of Nashville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Georgia
Thompson Butts and a son, Paul Michael Butts.
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 15 at 11:00 am
at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton. Entombment will follow
at Obion County Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Visitation is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at Hornbeak Funeral Home and anytime after 8 a.m. on Tuesday until the funeral hour.
