Mrs. Velma Potts, 88, of the Dukedom community, died Saturday at Jackson
Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tn.
She was a retired seamstress and owner of Velma's Alteration Shop, a member
of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church and had lived in this area all of her life.
She is survived by a daughter, Wanda (Bill) Trusty of Howell, MI., a son, Joe
(Wanda Jean) Fagan of Dukedom, Tn., three sisters, Margie Hicks of Chicago,
IL., Margrette Cox of Mt. Olive, IL., Doris Callis of Martin, Tn., two brothers,
Ted Potts of Dresden, Tn., Larry Potts of Henry, Tn., five grandchildren, twelve
great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Curly Roosevelt and Byrdie Mae
Pickens Potts, a son, Guy Thomas Fagan, a sister, Thelma Ann Kuchel, five
brothers, Bud Potts, Bill Potts, Bob Potts, Jimmy Potts, Dennis Potts and one
grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel
with interment to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Weakley County, Tn.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. or Tuesday
from 8 a.m. until the funeral hour.
