Memorial services for Dr. Jacque Voegeli will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church in Fulton, KY. Friends are asked to meet at 12:00PM until the hour of service.

V. Jacque Voegeli, III, age 90 died March 7, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Born in Jackson, Tennessee, he grew up in Fulton, Kentucky and graduated from Murray State College. After graduation, he was, from 1956 to 1958 a field artillery officer on active duty in the United States Army and in the Army Reserve from 1959 to 1963 when he was discharged with the rank of captain. He received the M. A. and Ph.D. degrees in history from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Jacque was appointed to the faculty of the Department of History at Tulane in 1963, where he taught until 1967 when he joined the history faculty at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Most of his tenure at Vanderbilt was spent in academic administration. He chaired the Department of History from 1973-1975 and named Dean of the College of Arts and Science 1976-1992 and Acting Dean of the same school 1996-1997. He retired from Vanderbilt in 1998.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Nashville.

Jacque was predeceased by his parents, Winnie Lassiter and V. J. Voegeli, Jr., his sister, Winifred Voegeli Powell and his brother-in-law, Glyn Ray Powell. Jacque is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anna Jean King Voegeli; two sons, V. Jacque Voegeli, IV of Nashville, Tennessee and Charles Lassiter Voegeli (Sarah) of Murray, Kentucky; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and brother, Robert Daniel Voegeli (Alice) of Fulton, Kentucky. Jacque is also survived by a number of extended family members, several of whom he enjoyed greatly.
