Mr. Burnette was an elder at the Union Church in Fulton and active in the Gideons International. He was a former manager of Turner Dairies and previously an owner,along with his brother Naylor, of Pure Milk Company,
Burnette Tractor Company and Burnette Jersey Farm.
As an original founder of the International Banana Festival, he provided the one ton banana pudding for each year's parade. He was active in the community as a member of the city council, a 30 year member of the Fulton Electric Board, a recipient of the 1981 Outstanding Citizen Award
from the local Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Bethel College Business Council.
His passion was his involvement with dairy cattle while teaching 4-H judging as an active judge and showing Jerseys over 50 years. He was awarded the
Distinguished Alumni Award in 1975 from the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture and received their Dairy Honor of the Year in 1980.
He is survived by his four children: George Burnette of Mayfield, KY, Jean Burnette of Murray, KY, Bill Burnette of Lexington, KY and Ruth Ann Fahl
of Fulton,KY; his sister- Laurie Covington of Fulton, KY; his brother- Cecil Burnette of Hendersonville, TN; seven grandchildren and 13 great grand-
children.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years- Corinne Hicks Burnette,his parents- Clyde and Pattie Mae Sigmon Burnett, his sister - Laverne Hixson and his brother - Naylor Burnette.
Funeral services for Mr. Burnette will be held at 10 am Monday, May 21, 2007 at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel and burial will follow in the Union Cemetery in Fulton Co., KY. Visitation will be on Sunday afternoon from 2-5 pm and on Monday after 8 am until the funeral hour.
